Arnica is a perennial flower related to the sunflower. It has a yellow-orange colour and resembles a daisy, except that its flower has soft, furry leaves. It doesn’t have a flowery smell, but a very pleasant sweet woody odour.

Our Arnica Infused Oil is made in small batches from 100% Certified Organic Arnica Flowers. We infuse it in liquid coconut oil or Fractionated Coconut Oil and Vitamin E. Fractionated Coconut Oil is an odourless, non-greasy, non-staining oil. It contains the medium-chain triglycerides and is a good choice for face creams or any body care because of its light texture and long shelf life. Vitamin E is added because Vitamin E is both a nutrient and antioxidant, and the oil in its purest form is extremely versatile. Known as tocopherol, it has a light brown/reddish hue and can be found in many skincare products.

It is believed that arnica helps increase circulation and helps reduce both pain and swelling from minor injuries. You can apply it to your skin, add it to water for external use or use it internally. Arnica is a natural anti inflammatory readily available with out prescription from health food and organic products retailers as well as on the Internet. It is available in convenient forms including liquid, lotion, cream, gel and ointment. As with any herbal remedy, contact your health care provider prior to using arnica. She can determine whether it is safe for you.

Uses 
Applied to your skin it is said to be beneficial to reduce the inflammation and pain caused by muscle sprain and strains. It is also believed to be able to regenerate tissue and is used for treatment of injuries. Arnica is used to promote wound healing and reduce the symptoms of rheumatic pain, and swelling due to fractures and insect bites.

Important Notes: Arnica is never to be used internally and it is important not to ingest any form of arnica. It is also not recommended to apply to broken or cut skin and some people may notice skin irritation from the use of arnica topically. Not recommended while pregnant or nursing.

DIY ARNICA HERBAL MENTHOL SALVE – The Perfect Herbal Sore Muscle Rub 

Ingredients 

36ml Arnica Infused Oil
10 grams Beeswax
20 grams Mango Butter or Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter

20 drops Wintergreen Essential Oil – warning Wintergreen is very strong! – use less if desired
3 drops Camphor Essential Oil
1 drop Eucalyptus Essential Oil
1 drop Clove Bud Essential Oil
1 drop Peppermint Essential Oil

Method 

Melt the Arnica Infused Oil and beeswax until the wax is completely melted.
Remove from heat and add the mango or shea or cocoa butter and melt into the mixture to cool slightly.
Add the essential oils and stir until well combined.
Pour salve into a small glass mason jar — or small tins if you plan to share this salve with friends and neighbors — and allow to cool completely.

To Use 

This rub is designed for external application ONLY. Do not apply to broken skin. Apply directly to affected area and massage. You will experience a cool, soothing effect at first and then a deep warming will occur.
